Annual Partnership Grants
Black Philanthropic Alliance: The Black Philanthropic Alliance is a DC-based philanthropic affinity group founded in 2002. The Black Philanthropic Alliance’s (BPA) mission is to increase the presence and leadership of Black professionals in philanthropy and to increase Black participation, giving and leadership through the nonprofit sector.  HSF made a $2,500 grant to the BPA for general operating support.

Funders' Collaborative on Youth Organizing (FCYO):  FCYO is a collective of national, regional and local grantmakers and youth organizing practitioners dedicated to advancing youth organizing as a strategy for youth development and social justice. The mission of the FCYO is to substantially increase the philanthropic investment in and strengthen the organizational capacities of youth organizing groups across the country.  HSF made FCYO with a $2,500 grant to support the third installment of its Occasional Paper Series to examine the emergence, growth and evolution of youth organizing by region.

Neighborhood Funders Group (NFG):  The Neighborhood Funders Group is a membership association of grantmaking institutions with a mission to strengthen the capacity of organized philanthropy to understand and support community-based efforts to organize and improve the economic and social fabric of low-income urban neighborhoods and rural communities.  HSF made a $5,000 grant to NFG in support of Fund for the Future, a pool of resources that will be targeted to the development of a comprehensive strategic five-ear plan and the implementation of substantive programs that further social and economic justice.

Tides Foundation-Rapid Response Fund:  HSF made a $20,000 grant to the Tides Foundation-Rapid Response Fund, with $6,000 dedicated to immediate relief efforts and $14,000 dedicated to long term recovery efforts related to the Asian Tsunami.

Other
Trinity MOPS Inclusive Pre-School:  In 2005, HSF made a $35,000 general support grant to Trinity MOPS Pre-School to continue a pilot inclusive pre-school classroom at an existing pre-school in the City of Alexandria and build upon the success of its first year of operations.  The pre-school takes four or five special needs children from the Alexandria City Public School system and combines them with five or six “typically developing” children from a waitlist at an area pre-school.

FIERCE!:  HSF made a $2,500 grant to FIERCE! for a “Training for Trainers” program for its members to increase their abilities to apply analysis and skills building, learn skills together and have a common framework to advance the organization’s campaign.

Garment Worker Center:  HSF made a $3,000 grant to Garment Worker Center to clean-up, record and enter into its database five hundred worker case files and use the data for a report evaluating the effectiveness of a landmark sweatshop worker remediation bill in California.

Board of Trustees Discretionary Grants
Each Hill-Snowdon Foundation Trustee has a designated amount for awarding discretionary grants each year.  These grants are typically made in the personal interests of each board member and are therefore outside of the Hill-Snowdon Foundation’s regular program areas.  Unsolicited applications for these grants are not accepted.
