Annual Partnership Grants Funders' Collaborative on Youth Organizing (FCYO): FCYO
is a collective of national, regional and local grantmakers and youth organizing
practitioners dedicated to advancing youth organizing as a strategy for youth
development and social justice. The mission of the FCYO is to substantially
increase the philanthropic investment in and strengthen the organizational
capacities of youth organizing groups across the country. HSF made FCYO
with a $2,500 grant to support the third installment of its Occasional Paper
Series to examine the emergence, growth and evolution of youth organizing by
region. LISC: LISC helps resident-led, community-based development
organizations transform distressed communities and neighborhoods into healthy
ones – good places to live, do business, work and raise families. HSF
made a $3,500 grant to Washington DC LISC in support of the Arthur S. Fleming
Community Leadership Awards program. Neighborhood Funders Group (NFG): The Neighborhood
Funders Group is a membership association of grantmaking institutions with
a mission to strengthen the capacity of organized philanthropy to understand
and support community-based efforts to organize and improve the economic and
social fabric of low-income urban neighborhoods and rural communities. HSF
made a $5,000 grant to NFG in support of Fund for the Future, a pool
of resources that will be targeted to the development of a comprehensive strategic
five-ear plan and the implementation of substantive programs that further social
and economic justice. Resource Generation: Resource Generation is a national
alliance of young people with wealth that promotes innovative ways for their
members to learn about and contribute to social justice efforts across the
country. HSF made a $3,000 general support grant to Resource Generation. Washington Regional Association of Grantmakers: Washington
Grantmakers is a network of funders, partnering with nonprofits and governments,
that is committed to improving the region by touching lives and changing communities. In
2004, HSF made a grant of $5,000 to Washington Grantmakers in support of its

740, Washington, DC 20036; (202) 939-3441 Rapid Response Southern Partners Fund: HSF made a $12,000 grant in
support of the Justice Fund for Katrina Relief and Renewal. Tides Foundation-Rapid Response Fund: HSF made a $20,000
grant to the Tides Foundation-Rapid Response Fund, with $6,000 dedicated to
immediate relief efforts and $14,000 dedicated to long term recovery efforts
related to the Asian Tsunami. Other Opportunity Fund Chinese Staff and Workers Association (CSWA): HSF made a $3,000 grant to CSWA for travel expenses for workers to attend a gathering to explore establishing a new alliance called “Break the Chains—Repeal Employer Sanctions Now.” Georgia Citizens' Coalition on Hunger: HSF made a $4,000 grant to Georgia Citizens’ Coalition on Hunger to replace computers and related equipment that were damaged by an electrical surge. Honor the Earth: HSF made a $3,000 grant to Honor the Earth in support of its Native Youth Funder and Grantee Convening. Justice 4 DC Youth! Coalition: HSF made a $4,000 grant to Justice 4 DC Youth Coalition to support youth organizer fellowships. People Organized to Win Employment Rights (POWER): HSF made a $4,000 grant to POWER in support of the Founding Convention for the Alliance for Land, Work and Power. Southwest Organizing Project (SWOP): HSF made a $5,000 grant to SWOP in support of a youth organizing strategic planning process. Youth Education Alliance: HSF made a $5,000 grant to Youth Education Alliance to support a transition away from its parent organization LISTEN, Inc. Youth Ministries for Peace and Justice (YMPJ): HSF made a $4,500 grant to YMPJ for repairs to its facilities. Capacity Building Grants CAAAV Organizing Asian Communities: HSF made a $3,000 grant to CAAAV in support of its strategic planning project. Calpulli Tlalpalcalli: HSF made a $1,000 grant to Calpulli Tlalpalcalli to improve the marketing of their products intended to produce earned income. Community Voices Heard: HSF made a $3,500 grant to Community Voices Heard to support voter research with GIS mapping and the hiring of a research to analyze the data. Families United for Racial and Economic Equality (FUREE): HSF made a $3,000 grant to FUREE in support of a staff development initiative designed to build its staff’s capacity to carry out its organizing work and to create systems and structures for current and future staff to use to be more effective. FIERCE!: HSF made a $2,500 grant to FIERCE! for a “Training for Trainers” program for its members to increase their abilities to apply analysis and skills building, learn skills together and have a common framework to advance the organization’s campaign. Garment Worker Center: HSF made a $3,000 grant to Garment Worker Center to clean-up, record and enter into its database five hundred worker case files and use the data for a report evaluating the effectiveness of a landmark sweatshop worker remediation bill in California. Grass Roots Organizing: HSF made a $4,500 grant to Grass Roots Organizing in support of its strategic planning process. Highlander Research and Education Center: HSF made a $3,500 grant to Highlander Research and Education Center to support its strategic planning process. Korean Immigrant Workers Advocates (KIWA): HSF made a $4,000 grant to KIWA in support of its strategic planning process. National Employment Law Project (NELP): HSF made a $3,000 grant to NELP to increase the scope, content and capacity of its website. Northwest Bronx Community and Clergy Coalition: HSF made a $3,000 grant to Northwest Bronx Community and Clergy Coalition to support an intensive training retreat for new and incoming members. Northwest Federation of Community Organizations (NWFCO): HSF made a $3,000 grant to NWFCO in support of a Strategic Framing Workshop to jumpstart the process for NWFCO and its affiliates to move beyond isolated, single issue campaigns to promoting bold and consistent visions for jobs, education, healthcare and racial justice. South Carolina Fair Share Education Fund: HSF made a $5,000 grant to South Carolina Fair Share Education Fund to support its ability to launch its youth organizing work in South Carolina. Tenants' & Workers' Support Committee (TWSC): HSF made a $3,000 grant to TWSC to its participation in the national gathering of the National Network of No- and Low-Wage workers, and to implement a communication plan.
